Healing Minds, Restoring Dignity
We Start with Mental Health
We provide Christ-centered, culturally sensitive mental health care that honors the unique story of every person we serve. Rooted in faith and guided by compassion, we create space for healing, restore hope, and strengthen resilience within refugee and conflict-affected communities. By respecting both spiritual and cultural identity, we support lasting healing and renewed dignity.
Who This Is For
We serve survivors of war, conflict, and displacement in refugee and host communities—those carrying the unseen impact of trauma and seeking healing, hope, and restoration.
Our Christ-Centered,
Culturally Sensitive Approach
- Our care is rooted in Christ and shaped by deep respect for each culture and community we serve. Led by individuals who have experienced war and displacement firsthand, we bring compassion, understanding, and lived insight to every interaction. Together, we offer a hopeful path toward healing—grounded in faith, professional care, and shared experience.

How Mental Health Connects All Our Programs
Refugee Programs
Mental health support is essential for refugees who have experienced displacement and loss-creating a foundation for healing, stability, and rebuilding their lives.
Faith Based Care
Mental health awareness strengthens the church’s ability to care for its people - equipping communities of faith to respond with compassion, understanding, and hope.
Mental Health
Mental health is where hope begins - laying the foundation for healing, restoration, and stronger communities.
Community Development
Strong communities begin with mental well-being. By prioritizing mental health, we equip individuals and leaders to build resilience, restore relationships, and create lasting change.
Reintegration
Returning home after conflict requires more than physical rebuilding. Mental health support helps individuals and families heal from trauma, restore dignity, and reconnect with their communities.
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
Mental health is the foundation of
our work - so healing can take root, and lives, communities, and faith can be restored.
The Core Model
The EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation Program
Used in every community we serve, the EMPOWER Trauma Rehabilitation Program is a culturally sensitive, cognitive-based therapeutic model specifically designed for individuals affected by war and conflict. This program provides a structured path toward healing, helping survivors process the unseen wounds of trauma and reclaim their mental well-being.
Developed in partnership with Dr. Robi Sonderegger and the Family Challenge Charitable Trust, with key contributions from I Live Again Uganda founder Benson Ocen, the model is built on years of intensive clinical intervention and global research. Today, the EMPOWER program continues to be a life-changing resource for war-torn regions around the world, restoring hope and dignity through evidence-based care.
1. Christ-Centered & Evidence-Informed
Our approach combines biblical principles with clinically validated trauma recovery methods, ensuring spiritual depth and professional excellence.
2. Whole-Person Healing
We focus on renewing the mind, emotions, and behavior, addressing the internal wounds that war and conflict leave behind.
3. Practical, Action-Based Learning
Through individual facilitation and active group participation, our model moves beyond theory into practical, lived restoration.
4. Built for Trauma & Resilience
Designed specifically for conflict zones, EMPOWER equips survivors with the psychological tools to build lasting resilience.
5. Creating Lasting Change
Our ultimate goal is true transformation that restores dignity and allows survivors to lead peaceful, productive lives.
